Catching up on some blog posts after a hectic few weeks. Ella & Daniil’s wedding was so much fun to photograph, a truly lovely couple, unfortunate with the weather but they certainly didn’t let it spoil their enjoyment as you will see.
I started the day’s coverage at Christ Church, Eaton in the centre of Norwich, a hidden gem within the city’s Golden Triangle.
Shortly after getting to the church Daniil arrived and the guests started to trickle in, before long the bridesmaids and our lovely bride arrived in two classic cars and we were ready to get started…
After a lovely service we all headed back to North Norfolk to the wonderful Chaucer Barn for their wedding reception. By this point the rain had really started to come down but it couldn’t dampen their spirits with Ella having her heart set on some shots in the bluebell woods at the end of the meadow. So after a welcome drink and some canapes we headed out, brollies at the ready and got some great shots despite the rain. It really shows that the more you put into your wedding photos the more you get out of them. Ella & Daniil were great sports, and it really paid off. I would never insist on a couple going out in the rain on their wedding day but Ella really wanted to so who am I to argue?! I’m up for anything which could result in great photos…
Back into the warm & dry, it was soon time for their meal, with the catering provided by the talented folks at Andy Parle Catering, followed a short while after by some truly heartfelt speeches…
After the speeches we headed back out for a few more shots in the grounds…
…and then back in for the first dance and a brilliant ceildh…
Many thanks to Ella & Daniil and their families for having me along to shoot their fabulous Norfolk wedding. Chaucer Barn has to be one of Norfolk’s top wedding venues with such character and beautiful grounds. I feel lucky to have such a beautiful venue so close to home.
I think this set of shots proves that rain on your wedding day doesn’t mean you can’t have a great set of images to remember one of the most special days of your life.

Amazingly for all of the weddings I’ve shot at Chaucer Barn since being a full time Norfolk wedding photographer (11 years this year!) this was the first one where the service was held in the beautiful gardens. It was touch & go as to whether they would risk having the ceremony outside right up until the last minute but I’m so glad they did. It may not have been a blazing hot afternoon but it was great to be outside!
So after a wander around to get some scene-setting shots and say hello to everyone I headed upstairs to the lounge on the landing where I was really pleased to see their hair & make-up artist – the legendary Amanda Steed had set them up in front of the lovely big windows at the end – great light for me too!
Now that’s some l-o-n-g hair!
I had to spend a little time getting some good shots of the shoes, I mean, Manolo Blahniks deserve it!
…and then on to some shots of Chris, the groom, his two sons Cameron & Alex and future father in law Kevin.
Flowergirl/bridesmaid Rosie looked gorgeous in her ‘princess dress’ and was raring to get the wedding started!
The guests arrived en masse on a coach and Chris & the chaps were there to welcome them…
Once again the inimitable Dai Harrhy was the registrar, this time responsible for the serious business of writing the wedding certificate, but before the serious bit started Dai tried to surprise me while I was doing some other shots. You’ve got be quicker than that Dai!
While the guests awaited the arrival of their beautiful bride they enjoyed a drink on the lawn with a spot of football & table tennis thrown in!
There seemed to be a lot of finger pointing at the presentation of the wedding certificate!
Not only were we treated to the service on the lawn but we also had the speeches in the garden which was a really nice change (and gave me loads of freedom to move around for shots)…
…and before long it was time to be seated and for the guests to enjoy an amazing meal cooked by the lovely & talented team at AlexChef – one of Norfolk’s very best wedding and event catering companies.
The table names were film-themed as you may have gathered from the shots below!
…and finally on to the first dance (well, finally for me, the party continued long into the night), with the entertainment and live music provided by a lovely bunch of people known as The Blue Lion Band.
Always nice to finish with a kissing shot, although in a break from the norm this is the groom kissing his father in law after a mix up with the father-daughter, mother-son dance! Chris & Lisa’s Chaucer Barn wedding was so much fun to photograph, so many funny moments and plenty of very poignant moments too. Thank you all so much for making me feel so welcome, it was an absolute pleasure to play a small part in your great day. I hope the joy, love and laughter of your day comes across in these photos. x

My second Chaucer Barn wedding of 2016 (I’m so lucky to have this amazing wedding venue on my doorstep) and my luck of the weather continues with another perfect afternoon for Jody & Richard’s fantastic day.
With both the bride & groom, most of their families and myself all suffering from the flu bug that’s doing the rounds at the moment it took a few moments to get into the swing of things but once we’d dosed up on various painkillers (and Red Bull) and the sun came out it was all smiles. I think the adrenaline & excitement of the day took us all over! I started the day’s photography with some preparation shots of Jody and the girls getting ready…
So, preparations completed, registrars met with, guests arrived & seated….. it’s showtime!
Time for a quick aerial shot with the quadcopter…
After some shots around the grounds with Jody & Richard we headed into the dining room for the wedding breakfast – a couple of speeches followed by a delicious barbeque provided by H.V. Graves and then it was time for me to head off (amazing how quickly five hours flies by when you’re having fun!). I left them to enjoy the rest of their evening although I wouldn’t have minded sticking around to sample some of the incredible cakes on offer! Also they were going to be entertained by the one & only Naked Lights – a fantastic local band fronted by my good friend Benjie, the makings of a superb evening to finish their wonderful wedding day!

It’s been a busy week for me – three weddings in the space of six days (and this is supposed to be the quiet season!)
Saturday’s wedding was in the middle of the 60mph gale force winds and Tuesday’s wedding of Fiona & Lee at Chaucer Barn in North Norfolk wasn’t much calmer although as you can see we had some stunning skies and sunshine.
Previously I had photographed Fiona & Lee on Cromer beach for their pre-wedding shoot so any concerns they may have had about having their photo taken were long gone and I knew it was going to be a blast! Fiona & Lee truly are two of the loveliest and most genuine people you could ever meet. (more…)
I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Ceryse & Jamie last weekend, the wedding was a two day event and I was there for both days, I know I go on about the weather a lot in my blog posts but literally the day after their wedding the tail end of Hurricane Gonzalo hit us with gales and plenty of rain. That’s what I call good timing!
