Shortly before the madness of Christmas I photographed my last wedding of 2014.
A crisp winter’s day greeted me as I pulled up at the gates of Kim’s parents’ stunning property to capture some of the preparations before their candle-lit ceremony in Fakenham Church.
The marquee was enormous & looking simply stunning…
The girls were all ready in good time, time for some selfies!
A canine welcoming party greeted the wedding car…
The church was lit by nothing but candles, the fact I could even get this shot is a testament to the fast, wide aperture lenses and incredible high ISO capabilities of the Canon 5d MKIII, this was shot at 10,000 ISO, I wouldn’t have dreamt of attempting this on previous cameras!
A couple of off-camera flashes on radio triggers allowed us to capture vibrant group shots inside. I’m more than happy to do formal groups for people if they want them (and 95% of people still do), I generally try to keep to about 7 or 8 group shots maximum & get them done in about 15 minutes. I still think there is a place for formal groups at a modern wedding but I certainly don’t take an hour about it as I’ve heard some people do!
Back at Kim’s parents’ house the garden looked incredible with the trees up-lit in an array of colours, fountains in the swimming pool and a wood burner roaring on a covered patio area.
Kim & Ben had a great first dance with some pretty daring moves considering how shiny that dancefloor was! Their first dance was made all the more special with Kim’s father Syd singing Queen’s ‘Crazy little thing called love’ for them with the band.
Kim & Ben’s wonderful winter wedding was a great way to finish off a year of spectacular weddings, I’ve photographed in many of the incredible North Norfolk wedding venues we are blessed with. In 2014 I also photographed weddings in Dorset, Somerset, Oxford and Woodbridge along with the many Norfolk & Suffolk weddings.
2015 will see me photographing in some really exciting wedding venues nationwide including one at the famous 12th century Temple Church in London (where scenes for the the Da Vinci Code was filmed) as well as my favourite Norfolk wedding venues including Cley Mill, Voewood, Chaucer Barn, Blickling Hall and Norwich Cathedral.
Happy New Year!
