Photographing The Landmark Collection, Wells-next-the-Sea.

Over the past few months I’ve had the pleasure of photographing and filming one of the most exciting new hospitality projects on the North Norfolk coast — The Landmark Collection in Wells-next-the-Sea.

The project centres around the transformation of Mill House, a historic landmark building in the heart of Wells, which has been carefully reimagined into a collection of beautifully designed luxury coastal holiday homes. Alongside Mill House, the collection also includes The Lifeboat, the town’s former railway hotel, now thoughtfully restored into an exceptional private coastal residence.

Over a number of days I documented both the finished interiors and wider atmosphere of the development through still photography and video, capturing not only the spaces themselves but also the detail, craftsmanship and personality that make the project so distinctive.

What immediately stood out throughout the shoot was the level of thought and care that had gone into every aspect of the design. Each property has its own individual identity while still feeling connected to the wider coastal character of Wells-next-the-Sea. Warm natural textures, carefully chosen colours, beautifully styled interiors and subtle references to the surrounding coastline all combine to create spaces that feel luxurious while remaining calm, welcoming and authentic.

Photographing hospitality and interior projects like this is always about more than simply documenting rooms. The challenge is to capture atmosphere and help potential guests imagine themselves within the space — whether that’s arriving back from the beach on a summer evening, sitting beside the fire in winter, or waking to the soft coastal light that makes North Norfolk so special.

The project was also particularly interesting to document because of the scale of the renovation itself. Having followed elements of the transformation over time, it was fascinating to see these historic buildings brought back to life so thoughtfully, balancing modern comfort with the character and heritage of the original structures.

As a photographer and filmmaker, projects like this are always hugely rewarding to work on because they combine so many elements I enjoy photographing most — architecture, interiors, atmosphere, storytelling and the unique character of coastal Norfolk.

Wells-next-the-Sea remains one of North Norfolk’s most loved coastal towns, known for its picturesque quay, beach, pinewoods and independent shops, cafés and restaurants. The Landmark Collection sits perfectly within that setting, offering visitors a beautifully designed base from which to experience the town and surrounding coastline.

A huge thank you to everyone involved with the project for having me along to document it.

You can explore the properties here, you will also see they have used a handful of video clips I collected on the drone and video cameras for their homepage video:
