A large proportion of my work is photographing properties around Norfolk, these include hotels, B&B’s, holiday lets and properties for sale. I also regularly photograph the more prestige properties for Norfolk estate agents Arnolds Keys, Waterside Estate Agents and Brown & Co.
My holiday property clients often remark that they see a marked increase in bookings after updating their websites and brochures with my images.
I’m aware that professional photography is a big financial investment so to minimise any risk to my clients I offer a complete zero risk guarantee – only pay to receive your high resolution image files once you have had a chance to see the finished online image gallery. If you are not totally happy with your images then you pay nothing.
For my Norfolk property photography I take great care to ensure that the building is best represented from all angles, including exterior shots of the property, crisp, bright interior images and, if required, some aerial shots showing the grounds and surrounding area.
Over the years I have developed a system of techniques, settings and equipment which allow me to produce great results every time.
Below is a brief description of what I look for in each of the areas…
One of the key elements of taking good exterior property images is to minimise the keystone effect (where the building appears to get thinner at the top when photographed from eye-level) it ensures that all verticals run parallel and horizontal lines are level. To do this it is necessary to have the camera pointing square at the building and raised up from eye level (usually at about 10ft off the ground). The light on the building is obviously critical too so shooting the exterior at a time of day when the sun is at a position to best show off the building is another consideration.
Gardens and the grounds of a property are important to photograph correctly, these again require the right weather & light (time of year is also a consideration to ensure flower beds & foliage are looking their best). Wide shots to show the extent of the area are useful as are close-up detail shots of the features & plants of the grounds.
Photographing rooms to look bright, warm and inviting is definitely an art and I have a number of techniques I use to best capture the ambience of a room without resorting to complex, drawn-out lighting set-ups. My method ensures that the true atmosphere of the room is captured while also showing as much of the room as possible from the best angles (and again keeping everything level). As well as taking wide-angle shots of the rooms I like to take some time to photograph the details and features which make each property unique. I find these images can really help capture the feel of a room/building which isn’t possible through wide shots alone. Looking for interesting angles and shooting using a shallow depth of field these shots can really help a holiday property website stand out from the crowd.
Using my drones I am able to offer aerial images of the property & grounds at no additional fee. These can be particularly useful to show the full boundary of the property using plan views and oblique angle views to show the property in it’s surrounding area (particularly useful for showing the proximity to the beach for coastal properties).
I am fully certified and insured for commercial operations by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). My specialist Norfolk aerial photography and video website is here – Aerovisuals.co.uk
I offer a simple rate for photographing properties starting at an hourly rate (£200 p/h) but also for larger properties there is a discounted half day rate (up to 4hrs) and a discounted full day rate (up to 8hrs). As an example a two bedroom holiday cottage can generally be photographed in an hour whereas larger properties may require two or three hours depending on the number of rooms and shots required.
Businesses that have used my property photography service include estate agents Arnolds Keys, The Dialhouse, Byfords, The Pigs (Edgefield), Chaucer Barn, Voewood, Blakeney House, Home Farm Cottages, North Norfolk Escapes and many more. A gallery of some recent North Norfolk properties I have photographed is here.
