Personal project - Dereliction

I’ve been working on a personal project recently, taking images of some amazing derelict properties in Norfolk. I won’t reveal the location as I’d hate for anyone to go with the intention of causing damage/stealing any of the artefacts left behind in these places but it’s been fascinating looking around and finding some quite haunting and atmospheric images, a small selection of which I’ve posted below.

Some lovely words from some lovely people!

I recently received a couple of lovely emails from wedding clients past and present, it’s always so nice to hear from people and to know that they are still moved to write to me even a year after their wedding…

Hi Chris
It’s just over a year since you photographed our wedding! We’ve been looking at the pictures lots recently and we just wanted to say we’re so pleased with them, and we’ve had so many compliments when we’ve shown them to people during the year.
Hope the year has been busy for you and once again thank you for capturing our day perfectly.
Best Wishes
Scott & Vickie

and this one from Lisa & Paul whose wedding I photographed in September of this year…

Chris
We just wanted to thank you being our wedding photographer. You were a pleasure to work with and we are absolutely delighted with the wedding photographs, as are our parents and everyone we show them to! I love so many of the photos I just can’t decide yet which are my favourites!
We look forward to having another excuse to have a photo shoot with you and would thoroughly recommend you.
Kind regards
Lisa and Paul Howard

Thank you again to you all, it was a real pleasure!

Gale Force 8 - rough sea photos at Cromer

On the way home from my studio on Friday I thought I would stop off at Cromer seafront to check out the waves after hearing a Gale Force 8 warning by Yarmouth Coastguard on the VHF Inshore shipping forecast.

The seas were huge, at one point I walked out along Cromer pier and the spray from the waves was coming through the boardwalk of the pier.  Below are a few of my favourites…

The value of good PR photography…

I was pleased to learn yesterday that one of my photos of the Crab and Lobster festival launch had made it onto the front page of the North Norfolk News (the 3rd front cover I’ve had in the last 15 months).

This just shows how important good photography is for getting your event or business noticed.  Maybe the festival would have made the front page anyway as it’s such a great idea but editors love a bright eye-catching photo, it gets attention and sells papers.

As well as photographing weddings and lifestyle portraiture I also supply local Norfolk businesses and events with images to help them sell their business and promote themselves.  I offer an all-in competitive rate which covers the onsite photography, all post-processing, an online gallery and supply of all high resolution images on disk, life’s complicated enough as it is without adding all sorts of hidden charges and clauses!

For Norfolk PR photography and Commercial photography look no further!

(That’s two front pages I’ve had this year, now I just need to get them to pay me!  Even some free advertising would be nice, hint hint).

Cromer & Sheringham Crab & Lobster festival launch…

Had great fun this morning photographing the launch event for the Cromer & Sheringham Crab & Lobster festival at Cromer’s ILB boathouse.  The Crab & Lobster festival looks to be a superb event involving five key themes - art, food & drink, family, fun and heritage with the festival scheduled for 21-23rd May 2010.

The festival will have ‘celebrity’ and local chef demonstrations in both towns from a state of the art mobile kitchen with large TV screen to allow close-up viewing.  Members of the public will be invited to have a go at dressing crabs, cooking up a stir fry or taking part in ‘Fishtucker’ trials of mysterious sea creatures.  There will also be a cook-off to be judged by the two Mayors.

There will be music including concerts by the Cromer Smugglers and the Sheringham Shantymen, art exhibitions, a film season including the first screen outside London of a new print of the Roger Corman 1957 classic “Attack of the crab monsters”.

There will also be the launch of the first World Pier Crabbing championship to be held on Cromer pier on 23rd May.

Art created by local people will also be on show in the seven week run up to the festival from Easter - following the success of Norwich’s 2008 Go Elephants! project and North Walsham’s 2009 Hippo Hunt, both towns will feature a ‘Crustacea Crawl’ of up to 60 decorated lurid lobsters and colourful crabs.  3ft and 6ft models of lobsters and crabs will be available to any sponsor to decorate how they wish which may then be displayed in shop windows or outside.  At the end of the festival they will be auctioned off in aid of Sheringham and Cromer RNLI lifeboat stations.

Below, Cromer & Sheringham’s town criers Jason Bell & Tony Nelson move in on some of the lovely food on offer today, this platter prepared by local chef Sean O’Callaghan.

Below, these delicious crab cakes came from the Rocket House cafe, they were superb and I will certainly be heading back there for some of these beauties soon!

Below, the crustacean’s revenge!

Below, Cromer town mayor - Hilary Thompson admires  Noel Gant’s (Sheringham Town Mayor) new hat complete with real lobster which later started dripping.  Mmmm, nice!

Below, Cromer Crab Company’s Managing Director Mike Grey poses with the giant Lobster.
The Cromer Crab Company are the major sponsors of the Crab & Lobster festival providing £12,000 towards this great community event.
