An afternoon with the G9

One of the perks of wedding photography being a seasonal beast is that I get the chance to get out and do my own thing in the winter.  Today the sun was shining, I was pretty well caught up on processing so I grabbed my little Canon Powershot G9 and went out for a couple of hours.

The G9 is a great alternative to lugging the digital SLR and various lenses about, it’s small, light, shoots in RAW, has full manual mode, a decent zoom range and can do macro when needed.

All of the below shots are out of the G9, it’s a small point & shoot so the lens quality obviously isn’t up to the Canon L-Series glass I usually use but for online viewing it’s hard to tell the difference.

Walking alongside the steam railway track I found a little brick hut complete with fireplace, I have no idea how old it is or it’s original purpose but it must have kept someone cosy (and from the looks of it someone had been inhabiting it a bit more recently too!).

This old lock on the door is pretty solid, unfortunately the other end of the chain isn’t exactly secured in the door, it slips over the hook allowing nosey photographers to stick their head in and have a look around.

The snowdrops are out in force as you can see from the below shot.  The above shot is the view directly above me while I was lying down in the wet moss photographing the snowdrops.

A few of the Autumn’s berries remain.  I guess the birds don’t like the taste of these?

Office space wanted…

I’ve decided it’s time to try and separate work and home a bit better so I’m looking for some space to rent.

It doesn’t have to be very big, just me, a desk & PC, a cupboard full of equipment and maybe some space to meet clients, if there were some space to have a studio too that would be a bonus but not essential as most of my work is on location anyway.

Ideally I don’t really want to have to travel more than about 10 miles from Sheringham and would be more than willing to share space with other like-minded people.

So, if you know anyone who would like to share some office/studio space or know of anywhere available I’d really love to know, I’d be no trouble to share space with, I’m toilet trained and everything!

Suzanne & David tie the knot…

Shot my first wedding of the year a couple of weeks ago for David & Suzanne at the fabulous Cley Mill.  The weather was particularly kind to us having been a rainy/snowy kind of week prior to the Saturday, not only that but the Guest Book which I had made for David & Suzanne (containing a selection of shots from their pre-wedding shoot at Wells beach) arrived the morning of the wedding after some sort of postal delay.  I very nearly went out and got a lottery ticket as it seemed to be one of those days when everything goes right!

Anyway, below are a selection of the shots from their day with a link to the full gallery at the bottom of the blog post.

a perfect day for the beach…

…well, maybe ‘perfect’ is a bit over the top but for February it was a great morning to be at Cromer beach for a double shoot with Lisa’s family and then with Kath’s family.

The kids all seemed to enjoy themselves, no one got hypothermia and I didn’t get any sand on my camera so all in all I think we did pretty well.

Below is a small selection of some of the shots from the morning with a link to the full gallery at the bottom of this blog entry…

alfie….stylin’

Had a great portrait shoot with Alfie and co. last Friday.

Alfie was looking pretty dapper in his neckerchief and waistcoat and had a couple of pretty swish toy cars to complete the look!
