Lifestyle shoot with Charlie & Mia

Spent a lovely afternoon yesterday hanging out with Charlie and his little sister Mia.  When I arrived Charlie was a little cautious of the strange man with the big cameras but after  a quick chat about Buzz Lightyear over a glass of water we headed out into the garden for a spot of football while Mia stayed inside drinking milk with her Mummy.

These two little monkeys made my job easy yesterday, we didn’t have a single tantrum although Charlie did start to get a bit jealous when I started taking photos of Mia instead of him but children getting angry because you’re not taking their photo is a good problem to have!

Best of 2008 - lifestyle portraits

Following on from my previous post of favourite wedding shots of 2008, below are my favourite fifty lifestyle portraits of 2008 - these include pre-wedding shoots.

Can’t beat that North Norfolk coast for a great backdrop!

A walk on the beach

Took a drive along to Happisburgh yesterday afternoon for a wander along the beach.  It’s a strange place with  houses in various stages of falling over the cliff edges and the decaying sea defences,  nature is reclaiming the coastline and it’s kind of eerie.

Below are a few shots…

Another happy customer!

I was just doing a little research to check out all incoming links to my website and discovered a lovely wedding write up by a bride whose wedding I photographed last August.
The article is on a site called youandyourwedding.co.uk where brides share their wedding experiences on a forum.   Below are some excerpts from Leigh-Ellen’s posts in which I get mentioned and below that are some of the kind words other forum members have made about the wedding photos….

  • ‘The photographer had arranged to meet us at the Spa at noon so called a few minutes before just to double check. The ladies at the spa absolutely adored him. He got some great photos of the getting ready and then we had a fun time walking back to the hotel (me with my veil in) with our own little paparazzi.’
  • ‘Photographer had ‘our photos online’ by Tuesday (got married on Friday) so we were sitting in the hotel lobby (on honeymoon) looking at our photos!’
  • During the ceremony - ‘Every once in awhile I caught sight of our photographer and he would give me a big encouraging smile.   He was such a calming presence all day!’
  • ‘Your pics are so so beautiful!!!’
  • ‘Gorgeous photos - you look stunning.’
  • ‘Wow…. what fantastic piccies.  Best I have seen!’
  • ‘Beautiful photos.  Congratulations!’

Thank you Leigh-Ellen, it was pleasure and an honour to be a part of your day!

Best of 2008 - weddings

I’ve been a bit quiet on this blog for a few weeks - the children have kindly been bringing us back a number of different bugs from school which we all managed to share over Christmas and New Year but we’re back, fighting fit and hopefully immune to pretty much anything 2009 can throw at us!

I’ve been meaning to post a selection of my favourite shots of 2008 for a while now so I’ll start with the weddings.   It was pretty tough whittling it down to 50 images though, over the course of the 30 weddings photographed in 2008 I supplied a total of 14,343 finished images - every single image being individually cropped, colour corrected, sharpened and ‘massaged’ to bring out the best.  It works out at an average of 478 finshed images supplied from each wedding - plenty of choice for the wedding album then!

Anyway, enough of the facts and figures, I doubt anyone’s actually even reading this bit now as you’ve probably scrolled down to have a look at the pretty pictures so on with the images…..

This last shot may not immediately jump out at you as a ‘wedding photo’ but if you look closely you can just see the bride & groom standing on the balcony of Cley Windmill having just been married inside.
