Mick & Sheila - a winter wedding at Cley Mill

My last wedding of the year and Mick & Sheila picked a cracking day for a winter wedding.  It was a mild, clear and still day with stunning blue Norfolk skies at this iconic North Norfolk wedding venue.

I was only at the mill for a couple of hours so not a lot of time to get the normal range of shots I aim for at a wedding but I still think we managed to capture the event well!

Below, ringbearer (and Mick’s grandson) Thomas carefully keeps the rings where he can see them!

Below, Sheila looked really elegant, and Mick brought along his specially made cufflinks which read ‘I’d rather be in the pub’!

Helen and Ollie - a Sheringham wedding!

It’s great to do a wedding on my home turf, I woke up on Saturday and looked out of my bedroom window and could see all three venues for today’s wedding - St. Peter’s church spire, the Burlington Hotel (Helen’s parent’s hotel on the clifftop) and the golf club - the venue for the wedding breakfast.

Yet again the sun was shining as I set off down the road to the Burlington for Helen’s prep shots.

I’ve included this shot as the vintage car shown was Helen’s grandfather’s and they didn’t think it was going to make it down from Manchester but at the last minute one of Helen’s uncles decided to put it on a flatbed truck and got the car down to Norfolk for the wedding.  Reflected in the car’s headlamp chrome is Helen’s parent’s hotel so it’s very much a photo steeped in McDermott history!

Apparently Agatha Christie once rode in the back of this car, it’s a beauty.

I don’t usually include the bunny ears photos but I couldn’t resist in this case!

Below right, Ollie looks cool for a shot at the side of the hotel while his father (and bestman) Martin took the slide and got briefly wedged in - it’s only made for little bums Martin!

Below, Steve, guvnor of the Burlington Hotel surveys his domain!

Below, Ollie gave Helen this necklace the day before the wedding, I love the way the late evening light creates the dimension in this shot.

Below, after drinks and canapes at the Burlington it was a short walk West along the cliffs to the Golf Club for a few more drinks and the wedding breakfast, as you can see it was a beautiful evening for taking in the stunning views on the golf course.

Below, Martin demonstrates in his speech how Ollie used to suck a finger and nuzzle his toys, ahh!

Below, dodging golf balls on the 18th fairway has never been such fun!

Below, I stepped outside at one point to get some long exposure shots of the clubhouse while they partied inside and managed to catch a shooting star falling over the golf club.  Must be a good omen!

Vicky & Paul - a Norfolk wedding

The day’s photography started with some shots of Paul and the lads at Dunston Hall driving range, it seemed that some of the chaps were more acquainted with the art of golf than others (there were a few shanks going off!)

Below, I thought it was really nice that Vicky’s father was wearing his late wife’s wedding ring on a ribbon round his neck for the day.

Below, I love to get shots of people with the confetti just before it’s thrown and this one made me laugh.  This little girl had been clutching her confetti for so long that it had become a little damp and crinkled, not great for fluttering through the air but quite good if you just want to aim a clump of damp paper at someone’s head!

Below, they laid on a pinata for the children, they loved it - you smash things and get rewards!

Ruth & Sam - a wedding at Wymondham Abbey

Ruth and Sam had a cracking day for their wedding considering we had been forecast storms all week. The day’s photography started with Ruth and her bridesmaid Elly having their hair & make-up done in the city centre before heading round the corner to the Maid’s Head Hotel to get into their dresses.

Ruth was having a great time getting her hair & make-up done, very relaxed and smiley which is always great for photos!

Below, Wymondham Abbey must have one of the most stunning interiors of any Norfolk church, coupled with a fish-eye lens it can make a very cool shot!

Below, Ruth prepares for the bouquet toss while the ladies limber up for the mad scramble which normally ensues.  Unfortunately this didn’t quite go to plan as the bouquet hit the ceiling and became a flower shower!

Iain & Anita - a wedding at Yaxley Hall

The second of the weekend’s weddings, this time at the beautiful Yaxley Hall in Suffolk.

Iain and Anita both got ready at the hall in separate rooms and did a fine job of making sure they didn’t bump into each other before the ceremony!
